TENANTS OF FAITH

BELIEVE THE HOLY BIBLE

The Holy Bible is the written inspired Word of God. No man may add to it and no man may take away from it.

II Timothy 3:16-17

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

Revelation 22:18-19

For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book. And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this.

BELIEVE IN GOD THE FATHER

There is only one GOD. Trust no other gods.

Mark 12:29,32

And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he:

God is self-existent and existed before time began. He is Creator.

Genesis 1:1

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

God is all-powerful, all-knowing, and present everywhere.

Jeremiah 32:17, 27

Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee: Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?”

I John 3:20

For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.

Psalms 139:7-8

Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold thou are there.

No man has seen God. God is a Spirit.

John 1:18

No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

John 4:24

God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in the truth.

God is three persons in one ― God the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

I John 5:7

For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

BELIEVE IN GOD THE SON

Jesus is the Son of God.

Matthew 16:16

And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou are the Christ, the Son of the living God.

Jesus existed in the beginning as the Word of God and became the Word in the flesh.

John 1:1, 14

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of he only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

God sent His Son, Jesus, from Heaven to provide a way for man to be redeemed of his sins and reunited with Him.

John 3:16

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Jesus suffered and died on the cross for the redemption of our sins. He rose from the dead declaring victory over death for all mankind.

Romans 10:9-10

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Jesus ascended back to heaven and He is praying for all mankind.

Roman 8:34b

. . . It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.

Jesus is soon to come again  ̶ The Second Coming of Christ.

Matthew 24:33

So know likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.

BELIEVE IN GOD THE HOLY GHOST

Holy Ghost is the Spirit of God and he existed in the beginning. Holy Ghost is the power (action/verb) of God. He moves.

Genesis 1:2

And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

Holy Ghost is Comforter, Spirit of Truth, Teacher. Holy Ghost empowers.

John 14:16-17, 26

And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have
said unto you.

Acts 1:8

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

The Baptism of the Holy Ghost is a gift from God for all believers.

Acts 1:5

For John truly baptized with water, but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

Acts 2:38-39

Then  Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

Acts 10:45-46a

And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God

BELIEVE IN WATER BAPTISM

Jesus commanded that water baptism be done, and he was baptized himself.  Therefore, it is an act of obedience for Christians. It is a proclamation of believers that symbolize their identification with Jesus Christ’s burial and his resurrection from death (Mark 16:16; Mark 1:9; Colossians 2:12).

BELIEVE IN HOLY COMMUNION, FOOTWASH

Christ instituted the Lord’s Supper for believers. The sacraments of the breaking of unleaven bread and the drinking of wine symbolize the broken and torn innocent body of Jesus Christ and His blood that was shed for our sins (Matthew 26:26-35).

Christ instituted the Washing of Feet, an expression of humbleness. It is a symbol of believers’ willingness to serve. Jesus set the example by washing his disciples’ feet (John 13:1-9, 12-17).

BELIEVE IN HOLY LIVING

God commands us to live holy.

Romans 12:1

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

Hebrews 12:14

Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

The Great Commission

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations

baptizing them in the name of the Father,

and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

Teaching them to observe all things

whatsoever  I have commanded you:

and, lo, I am with you always, even

unto the end of the world.

Matthew 28:19-20
